Pat Guilfoyle reports that his BoyleSports Irish Derby hero Good News is in great form and will be having a trial or two in the coming weeks in the build up to the Night of Stars at Shelbourne on Saturday, November 18th.

Guilfoyle is enjoying a remarkable season and has a chance of place in the history books as he is bidding for an amazing Derby and Oaks double.

The County Tipperary trainer has two of the twelve remaining challengers for the Sporting Press Irish Oaks in Cabra Angel and Mystical Moll. “They are two lovely bitches but they are only pups really. We only put them in the Oaks for experience and it would be great if we could get one of them through to the Oaks final”.

Along with John Kennedy he has mapped out the plan of campaign for Good News and it is pretty straightforward. Says Pat, “He is in great form and I have given him a couple of gallops. He will have a trial or two in the next few weeks to get him ready for the Night Of Stars. There is huge demand for him from breeders and we have decided to take straws from him after the Night of Stars and then to put him away until the Spring.

“He will then go for the Easter Cup and a few one-off opens but he will be confined to Shelbourne Park. If he holds his form we would then for a second Irish Derby”.
