There was no winner of the Youghal Track Supporters Club Lotto draw last Friday 2nd September. The numbers drawn were 3, 25, 27 and 36. Next week’s jackpot climbs to €16,300. The following people won €20 in the lucky dip draw: Julie O'Keefe, Rose O'Driscoll, Ian Freyne, Andy Lynch and Vincent Walsh. 

The Mulcahy Steel sponsored A4 Stake final was held at Youghal last Friday 2nd September. Garryvoe Bobby owned and trained by Pat Maloney ran out a clear winner in Friday's final. Garryvoe Bobby is a litter brother to Derby favourite Sonic who is trained by Graham Holland.

Ladies Day 

Women turned on the style and added plenty of glamour to the 2016 Oaks Final at Youghal on Monday 1st August with our annual Best Dressed Ladies Competition. The difficult decision in picking a winner was left in the capable hands of style consultant Rita Lane from 'Wardrobe Matters'. The winning lady was Paula Mc Cormick who travelled from Tipperary and impressed Rita with her style. Paula won the top prize of a night away in the Castlemartyr Resort with B&B and an evening meal in the Bell Tower restaurant.

The runner-up in the Best Dressed Ladies Competition was Anne Lonegan from Kanturk, Co. Cork. The prize for the Best Dressed Family went to the Clifford's from Kiskeam in Co. Cork. The Best Dressed Mother and Me prize went to Fionnula & Ciara Wood from Youghal. 81 year old Eileen Welch from Togher in Cork received a special prize in recognition of her efforts in entering the competition and she promises to be back next year to claim the main prize.

Congratulations to all our winners and finalists. Thank you to all the ladies who dressed up and added style to our 2016 Oaks Final at Youghal. Also a big thank you to our main sponsor Castlemartyr Resort and all our sponsors.

There was no winner of the Youghal Track Supporters Club Lotto draw last Friday 29th July. The numbers drawn were 10, 11, 14 and 35. Next week’s jackpot climbs to €15,550. The following people won €20 in the lucky dip draw: Éle Nic Craith, Killian O'Brien, Martin O'Reilly, Killian Cronin and Donal Leahy.

The Derby Trial Stake race at Youghal last Friday 29th July was won by the JJ Fennelly and Richard Newell owned and trained Coconut Corker. There was a tight finish at the line but Coconut Corker finished well to win by a neck in 30.87.

The FFK Sires Southern Oaks final for 2016 was held at Youghal on bank holiday Monday 1st August. The winner, Dromscarra Ruby, retained her title from 2015 by winning the Southern Oaks title for 2016. The Jennifer O'Donnell trained Dromscarra Ruby led from trap to line and was a convincing winner of the final for owner Noreen Clifford.

There was no winner of the Youghal Track Supporters Club Lotto draw last Friday 22nd July. The numbers drawn were 10, 14, 35, and 36. Next week’s jackpot climbs to €15,400. The following people won €20 in the lucky dip draw: John O'Regan, Tadhg O'Loughlin, Deirdre Young, Jacinta Cummins and Liam Cockwell.

The line up for the final of the Southern Oaks for 2016 was decided at Youghal last Friday 22nd of July. In the first of the semi-finals Genuine Pearl, owned by Tina Finn and trained by William Finn, led from trap to line to win the first semi-final. The other qualifiers for the final were the John Kenny owned and trained Wagga Style in second and the Javier Jarne owned Amanita Chic who is trained by Liam Dowling claimed the third qualifying spot. The second semi-final saw the Jennifer O'Donnell trained Dromscarra Ruby lead from trap to line for owner Noreen Clifford. The other qualifiers were the Graham Holland trained Sidarian Pearl for the Sidarian Syndicate in second place and the Liam Twomey owned and trained Witches Spirit secured the last place in this years Oaks final. The final will be held on Bank Holiday Monday 1st August.

The final of the Connolly's Redmills Unraced Bitch Stake for 2016 was held at Youghal last Friday 1st July. Express Crystal owned and trained by Tim O'Keeffe was a convincing winner of the 2016 contest as she was very fast out of the traps and led all the way to the line. This prestigious race has in the past produced some fine bitches and this years winner and finalists are no exception. Congratulations to Tim O'Keeffe and thanks to Connolly's Redmills for their continued sponsorship of this competition at Youghal.

Latest News at Youghal Greyhound Stadium 

The Connolly's Redmills Unraced Bitch Stake semi-finals were held at Youghal last Friday 24th June. The recent winner of the Sporting Press Irish Oaks, Witches Belle, who commenced her racing career in last years Connolly's Redmills bitch stake was also honoured on Friday night.

Witches Belle was guest of honour at racing in Youghal along with owner Edel Twomey and trainer Liam Twomey. Liam and Edel regularly run their greyhounds with the 'Witches' prefix at Youghal and it was fitting that the celebration of her win in the Sporting Press Irish Oaks coincided with the semi-finals of the Connolly's Redmills Unraced Bitch Stake where she commenced her racing career a year earlier. A presentation was made to Edel and Liam by Youghal Track Supporters Club in recognition of this wonderful achievement. All at Youghal are very proud of this achievement and wish the Twomey's well in her future racing endeavours.

The line up for the 2016 Connolly Redmills Unraced Bitch Stake was decided at Youghal last Friday 24th June. In the first of the semi-finals the favourite Rising Pride, owned and trained by Damian and Noel Fleming, didn't disappoint in winning the semi-final. The other qualifiers for the final were the Tim O'Keeffe owned and trained Express Crystal in second and the Lorraine Moore owned and trained Race on Sugar in third. The second semi-final saw the Peter Cronin trained Mustang Swift lead from trap to line for owner Nikolas Pietrzyk. The other qualifiers were the Diarmuid Lynch owned and trained Butterbridge Bel in second place and Lorraine Moore secured another place in the final this time with Race on Spice. The final will be held next Friday 1st July.

There was no winner of the Youghal Track Supporters Club Lotto draw last Friday 3rd June. The numbers drawn were 3, 19, 22 and 30. Next week’s jackpot climbs to €14,350. The following people won €20 in the lucky dip draw: Kathleen Egan, Mossie Quirke, Anthony Linehan, Edward Donnelly and Johnny O'Brien.

A spectacular evening of racing and family entertainment was held at Youghal Greyhound Stadium over the June Bank Holiday weekend. The initiative was organised and sponsored by Youghal Track Supporters Club with free entry to racing for all the family. There was fun and entertainment for all the family with a bouncy castle, face painting and a monster raffle. The top prize in the raffle was won by Julie O'Keeffe from Midleton.

The highlight on the track was the final of the Droopy's Stud Champion Stakes for 2016. The Denis Fitzgerald trained Oaklands Paddy was very quick out of the traps and led all the way to the line to win the 2016 final. Oaklands Paddy is owned by the Dunne family.

The highlight of the race card last Friday 27th May was the Killeagh GAA Buster race. The race was won by Ballydorgan Cian who is owned and trained by Brian Dynan and Eddie Lingane. Ballydorgan Cian led from trap to line and was a convincing winner.

Russell Rovers GAA Club will hold a benefit night at Youghal Stadium on Friday 3rd June. A huge crowd is expected for what promises to be a fantastic evening of racing.


The line up for the final of the Droopy's Stud sponsored Champion Stakes was confirmed at racing on Friday 27th May. The final is the highlight of the Bank Holiday race meeting at Youghal on Monday next 6th June.

Semi Final 1 was won on Friday by Lillie for Gold, owned and trained by Frank Tynan and Oliver Moriarty. Lillie for Gold was quick out of the traps and stayed on to win the first semi final. The Michael Crotty owned Churchtown Bound, trained by Denis Fitzgerald, finished closely behind Lillie for Gold to also claim a place in the final. Gwan Slab owned by Keith O'Leary and Colin O'Mahony finished 3rd and also qualified for the final of the Droopy's Stud Champion Stakes.

In the second semi final the Denis Fitzgerald trained Oaklands Paddy led from trap to line to win and qualify for owners the Dunne family. Coconut Corker was 4 lengths behind and qualified for the final for Richard Newell and J.J. Fennelly. Butterbridge Ace owned by Diarmuid Lynch and trained by Kieran Lynch finished 3rd and also qualified for the final on Bank Holiday Monday 6th June.

Youghal Greyhound Stadium extend their sympathies to the family of Billy Dunne from Cloyne, Co. Cork who died peacefully at the Bon Secours Hospital, Cork. Billy was an outstanding member of Youghal Track Supporters Club and a great supporter of racing at Youghal. Son of the late Eddie and Mary Dunne, Church Street, Cloyne. Beloved husband of Bridie. Dear father of Eimear and Eamonn. Sadly missed also by his daughter-in-law Colette, son-in-law Paul, his adored granddaughter Saoirse, mother-in-law Hannah Fitzgerald, brothers-in-law and their families, cousins, relatives and friends. May he rest in peace.

Annual Awards Night 

The annual awards night at Youghal was held last Friday 22nd January. Youghal Track Supporters Club kindly sponsored finger food for all on the night as the achievements for the 2015 racing season were honoured. The awards were kindly sponsored again this year by John O'Brien from Midleton. John is a long standing and hard working member of the Youghal Track Supporters Club. We thank him for his continued support each year in sponsoring our awards.

Nioclas and Padraig Walsh from the Seaview Kennels in Ring, Co. Waterford won the Private Trainer and Leading Owner awards at Youghal for 2015, and for the fourth year in a row. Damien Fleming (YTSC) presents Nioclas Walsh and Ken Busteed (YTSC) presents Padraig Walsh with their leading private trainer and owner awards for 2015. As leading owners and private trainers they clocked up a total of 30 wins.

Reminder the Youghal Track Supporters Club AGM will be held on Wednesday 27th January at 7:30pm sharp at Youghal track. All existing and new members are welcome to attend.

Youghal Lotto Jackpot climbs to €10,000

There was no winner of the Youghal Track Supporters Club Lotto draw last Friday 30th October. The numbers drawn were 1, 2, 4 and 16. Next week’s jackpot climbs to a record high of €10,000. The following people won €20 in the lucky dip draw: Owen c/o Ken, Mary Walsh, Patrick Walsh, Denis Murphy and Brian Mackey. Tickets are on sale every Friday night at the track and are available for purchase from any member of Youghal Track Supporters Club.


Halloween Spooky Night at Youghal


There was no winner of the Youghal Track Supporters Club Lotto draw last Friday 23rd October. The numbers drawn were 4, 15, 18 and 28. Next week’s jackpot climbs to €9,850. The following people won €20 in the lucky dip draw: Margaret Busteed, Michael Cashman, Jake Catney, John O'Regan and Margaret O'Donoghue.

It was a busy Halloween at Youghal Stadium with the finals of the Business Scholar sponsored Southern Sprint and the Rising Unraced stake finals down for decision on Bank Holiday Friday 23rd October. The finals coincided with a Halloween themed family fun night organised by Youghal Track Supporters Club and which proved to be a great success.

The Business Scholar sponsored Southern Sprint final for 2015 was a closely fought contest with the Peter Cronin trained winner Dungill Rocket quick away from the traps and proving too strong to catch. Owned by the five glory boys syndicate Dungill Rocket went to traps as the favourite and didn't disappoint.

The Rising Kennels Unraced stake final was won by local owners and trainers in the Chester Pool syndicate. Bartlemy Lock owned by the Chester Pool syndicate was quick to leave the traps and held on to win the stake by the narrowest of margins.
