The night was organised, in conjunction with track manager John Mc Grath, by Mater patient Billy Dunne and his family. Billy was given the gift of life by a donor when he underwent a heart transplant operation at the Mater hospital. The Heart and Lung appeal was established in 2012 and the Mater Hospital is the only hospital in the Republic of Ireland that performs Heart and Lung transplantation. A huge crowd was in attendance at Youghal for this very worthy cause. Great effort was put in to selling all the 750 Buster Race night tickets and a raffle was held with all proceeds going to the Mater Heart & Lung appeal.
The highlight of the race card was the Cronin Family sponsored A1/A2 525 in aid of the fundraising night. The Billy Dunne owned Oaklands Paddy didn't disappoint his owner on his fundraising night as he stayed on well to win the Buster race.
