What’s on in Galway this Summer

It’s safe to say that Galway is one of the most beautiful areas of Ireland. The stunning scenery alone would keep you busy for weeks, however Galway is offering much more this summer. Continue reading to hear about our favourite events being held in Galway in the upcoming months.

Galway Film Fleadh

Irish weather can be a bit hit or miss but Galway have you covered. The Galway Film Fleadh celebrates film makers across the world, whether it’s a creators first movie or their hundredth, the Galway Film Festival wants to celebrate everyone. This 6-day long festival is celebrating its 30th year in 2018 this event is not one you’ll want to miss.

Galway Fringe Festival

One of the biggest arts and culture events across the country this summer is the Galway Fringe Festival. This event definitely has something for everyone, with music, film and theatre amongst so much more. This event is great if you’re looking for a few days away with the family without breaking the bank, there’s also plenty to keep the kids entertained; it’s a win win. Get yourself a ticket and join in on the fun. 

Galway Races

A day at the Galway races is not one you’ll forget. Enjoy the day with your friends or bring the kids down as there’s plenty for them to do as well. With ladies day, super Saturday and even the mad hatter’s competition, this event is tailored to suit everyone and you’ll not be bored for a minute. If horse racing isn’t your thing, there’s greyhound racing on Friday and Saturday nights in the Galway stadium. It’s safe to say that Galway has plenty to offer when it comes to racing.

The Connemara100

If you’re into sport, this event in mid-august is one for you. This 100 mile run is not for the faint hearted. The run through the beautiful scenery of Galway has to be completed within a 30 hour limit, the event has only been running since 2012 but has becoming increasingly more popular over the years. If you aren’t participating, why not go and support the brave people on their venture?
