UNDULATION FASTEST OF MATTHEWS TRIO IN TOWCESTER TRIALS

Ian Fortune

Prior experience at the venue obviously aided Undulation but she was the stand out greyhound to trial at Towcester on Tuesday, posting a rapid 28.83 off a 4.07 sectional. Incidentally, she was the only greyhounds to dip under the 29 second barrier.

The brilliant daughter of Pestana and Unlock Unlock has been in irresistible form since returning to action for the Easter Cup. She went on to reach the final of the classic and has since won an Open 550 at Limerick in stunning fashion.

Merit Inclusion was last seen in the Kirby Memorial where he improved with each and every run in the competition before finishing runner-up to Knockeen Dazzler in the decider. He steered a middle path in his trial, clocking 29.38 off a 4.10 sectional. It’s safe to suggest he will improve considerably for the experience.

Puppy Oaks runner-up Rushy Meadows I another that has been in fine form, winning her latest outing around Limerick in a sizzling 28.16. She posted 29.25 in her first look at Towcester on the back off a 4.08 sectional.

There were a couple of notable sprint trials. Last year’s English Derby runner-up Romeo Command is returning after a spell on the sidelines and went around in 15.78, while Antigua Walt posted a very fast 15.58. It was his first spin under his new name. He, of course, was known as Ballymac Walt on these shores.
