Shelbourne Park & the Night of Stars committtee are preparing for a bumper night this Saturday night, for the inaugural Night of Stars.
The €92,000 Night of Stars meeting is funded through sponsorship of the eight races, IGB funding and the running of the Night of Stars Club which entails selling Restaurant Package tickets at €100 each. There has been a fantastic response to this project and the organisers were delighted with the response they have received.
If you wish to attend the Night of Stars, normal admission rates apply and can be paid on the night at the turnstiles. Those unable to travel to Dublin, can enjoy the racing action via the Tote Intertrack system, in all stadia open on Saturday night. The night’s racing will also be recorded, to air in a special hour-long Greyhound View on TG4. The programme which airs on Monday 10th December at 8.30pm, will also be available online on tg4.tv to a worldwide audience for 30 days.
Night of Stars Chairman Pat O’Donovan is very happy with the way the planning of the night is progressing: “We are indebted to our eight sponsors who came aboard to support the races and the response from the greyhound public to our Restaurant Club package has been extremely encouraging. There should be a terrific atmosphere in the Restaurant on the night and, of course, we have the Night of Stars Party in Pat Curtin’s Dandelion Club afterwards.
“We hope that a huge crowd will attend on the night. General Admission will be the usual Saturday night price and it promises to be one of the greatest night’s racing ever in Ireland with the best from the UK coming over to take on our best. We have planned this to be an end of year celebration for the sport and it should be just that”.
All eight Night of Stars races will have a winner’s prize of €10,000 with the runner-up collecting €1,000 and the third €500.
