OBAMA IS SECOND IN SUNDERLAND CLASSIC FINAL

Robert Gleeson had a reasonably successful visit to Sunderland on Tuesday where he had a finalist in both the major finals and saw Toolmaker Obama finish second in the William Hill Classic over 450 metres.

The Willie Hyslop owned Toolmaker Obama missed the break and was towards the rear of the field early before tracking well and moving through the field. Angela Harrison’s Droopys Country hit the front at the third bend and ran out a four and three quarter length winner from Toolmaker Obama in 26.91. Newinn Shadow was a length third.

Droopys Tee was the Gleeson runner in the final of the William Hill Grand Prix but she broke slowly and maintained a wide course throughout as she finished at the back of the field. Victory went to the Charlie Lister trained Cloran Paddy which led home Swift Hansel by two and a quarter lengths in 39.72 for the 640 metres.
