FLYTLINE AMONGST A NUMBER OF NOTABLE TRIALS AT HQ

Ian Fortune

It’s been all too long since the racing public got to see the exceptional Juvenile Derby champion Droopys Flytline in action but it was hugely encouraging to see him trial at Shelbourne Park ahead of racing on Saturday night.

Posting a more than respectable 18.63, it seems likely the sensationally fast Robert Gleeson trained son of Laughil Blake will be back on track in the near future. That really is great news.

THREESIXFIVE MOVES WELL

The same can be said for 2023 Derby finalist Threesixfive. One of the best over four and six bends last year, she posted a sizzling 28.23 over the 525yd trip and is clearly very well in herself. Scott Phelan will no doubt have a busy campaign mapped out for her with the possibility of challenging for major honours over both standard and staying trips yet again.

JET AND PERFORM GO FAST

Another to impress was Scooby Jet as he saw off his equally talented kennel companion Born To Perform by a length in 28.33. Born To Perform looked quite a prospect in her early starts and is expected to be targeted at the Oaks, while Scooby The Jet is lightly raced and could develop into a bit of star in the coming months. He will have plenty of options.

THE WHEELS ON THE BUS MOVE PRETTY QUICK

Incidentally, there was also a nice trial spin from an unraced youngster with Sallagh Bus posting 28.65. It was the first mark on his card for Michael Lynch’s son of Dorotas Wildcat, who happens to be a younger half brother to Cesarewitch winner Singalong Dolly.

He moved very well in his trial. After a moderate 2.24 first sectional, he hit the third turn in 16.28 before finishing full of running. He is a name to put in the notebook.
