Crohane Ronnie (Godsend/ Moorstown Misha), which had finished third behind Clares Rocket in the 2016 Produce Stakes final at Clonmel, gained a career best victory when winning the €8,700 Thurles Fresh Milk Tipperary Cup final at Thurles on Saturday.

Trained by Declan Byrne for Tommy Simpson, Crohane Ronnie showed fine early pace to take the bend and he led into the back from slow starting Jaytee Barracuda and Boherna Brave.

Jaytee Barracuda closed threateningly around the bottom bends but Crohane Ronnie held him at bay by two lengths in 28.68. It was another five lengths to the favourite Cahir Castle in third. He had been in the wars at the opening bend.

On the supporting card there was a fine run from Adam Hogg’s Whizzing Tornado (Sparta Maestro/ Express Haze) as he won the Open/ A1 570o in a fast 31.12.

The €1,200 TSC A3/4 570 final saw Nick Nolan’s Triangle Rinty (Ballymac Vic/ Triangle Beyonce) hit the front on the run-in for a head verdict over Boherna Bliss in 31.86.

The final of the €850 TSC A4 525 was won by Denis Murphy’s Callaway Bosco (Scolari Me Daddy/ Crinkill Smiler) as he beat Patterdale Brodi by two lengths in 29.24 while the Feelgood Racing Syndicate’s Daryanoor Queen (Razldazl Jayfkay/ Coosane Champ) won the €600 TSC A5/6 570 by five lengths from Dance Messi.
